dreamt and woke grieving,
never quite forgot, it seems, after all-
For in this sharply drawn breath,
this moment Outside all we have known
it stands before us again,
that dream remembered:
All the same, nothing like,
impossible, immistakable,
and still ajar.
Across a threshold bright and beckoning,
the First Day of Summer waits,
golden promise undimmed.
